Vanguard Launches Charity Partnership

As we move wholeheartedly into the season of spring, and the weather begins to lighten, Vanguard have some equally bright and promising news to share. Just days ago, we launched a 16-month partnership with St. Kentigern Hospice, meaning we’ll be supporting the charity throughout the upcoming year, and attending various events and fundraisers to help raise money for their mission.

St Kentigern Hospice is a charity organisation that offers specialist, palliative care to those with terminal or life-limiting illnesses. Whether that’s easing the last few weeks of a beloved husband’s life, or giving respite to a daughter who cares for her dying mother, the staff at St Kentigern make such troubling times in people’s lives just a little easier.

In today’s blog, we’ll explore who St. Kentigern Hospice are, and how we can all help support this amazing cause.

Who Are St. Kentigern Hospice & What Is Their Mission?

Established in 1995, St. Kentigern’s mission is to improve the quality of life for terminally ill patients and their families. The hospice offers a broad range of services for the local community, including inpatient care, outpatient clinic, bereavement support, and various types of therapies. The hospice itself is a modern, state-of-the-art building with room for 12 patients, allowing the charity’s nurses to provide individualised care free-of-charge to those who need it the most.

Among the hospice’s in-house team are a number of clinical professionals including nurse practitioners, healthcare specialists, a physiotherapist, and an admiral nurse. It is the dedicated and careful work of everyone involved that makes a substantial difference to someone’s last days, with staff going as far as to allow visitors at any time of the day, and serve food to patients at their preferred mealtimes.

However, such an attentive level of care is costly, and while the hospice’s services are offered for free, they come at a price. St Kentigern’s are mostly public-funded, with 27% of their funding coming from the local authority, and relying on donations and generous contributions from the public for the rest. For this reason, the hospice runs a selection of charity events and fundraisers across the year, aiming to bring in enough money to keep their services running. Vanguard are proud to help out.

How Does St Kentigern Align With Vanguard’s Values?

Located in North Wales, the St Kentigern Hospice is mere miles from Vanguard’s head office, but beyond the close proximity, we share the same high standards when it comes to patient care. As experts in medical cleaning, we conduct regular cleaning of the hospice, and have seen first-hand the love and attention St Kentigern put into their work every single day, so we couldn’t be prouder to be supporting such an exceptional healthcare provider.

As Vanguard is a People First business, we know that extraordinary people make the difference between a brilliant service and a lacklustre one. Just as the passionate folks at St Kentigern’s do, we put great effort into improving clinical environments for patients across the UK. We invest in rigorous training accredited by the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc), ensuring surgeries, clinics, and health centres are kept immaculate for those who need a happy and healthy environment.

In this way, Vanguard and St Kentigern Hospice share a deep commitment to making a true difference in patient’s lives.

How Will Vanguard Be Supporting St Kentigern?
